Role: Layout Design in Chief

Goal: Pair each story with the right and decent presentation.

Having been working on newspaper layout for Seattle Chinese Times for years, I mastered the print design using Adobe Illustrator and Indesign, together with the design techniques in bilingual scenarios.

I choose the proper theme, illustration, and readership flow to best align with every editorial content, including news reports, lifestyle articles, or sponsored content from the business client / local gov / non-profit.

Though it’s said that “Newspaper is dying”, treating each editorial design as a design challenge is fun and rewarding. Newspaper layout is storytelling via a static yet flexible intertwine of words and visuals.
